Indonesian Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni expressed full support and appreciation for Indonesia’s National Statement delivered by Presidential Envoy for Climate Change and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, during the Leaders Summit of the COP30 Climate Conference in Belem, Brazil. The statement was praised by international leaders for aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s policy priorities and for reinforcing Indonesia’s strong commitment to global climate action.
One of the most lauded aspects of Indonesia’s message was its commitment to empowering local and indigenous communities in forest management.
“President Prabowo has shown genuine support for grassroots communities by granting forest management rights over 1.4 million hectares to indigenous peoples for the next four years. The international community deeply respects this approach, recognizing our trust in local communities to protect forests while improving their livelihoods through the customary forest scheme,” Minister Raja Juli said from São Paulo on Friday (Nov. 7, 2025).
The minister also welcomed Indonesia’s continued commitment to the Paris Agreement and other global norms, emphasizing that the nation will keep advancing multilateral climate action in line with President Prabowo’s green development priorities.
President Prabowo has reaffirmed that Indonesia remains firmly committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or sooner, while sustaining annual economic growth of up to 8 percent. The country’s green development strategy is outlined in the Second Nationally Determined Contribution (SNDC).
Minister Raja further commended Indonesia’s announcement to join the Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) and contribute equally with Brazil in funding efforts to preserve tropical rainforests.
“This demonstrates that, as a developing nation and one of the world’s largest tropical forest holders, Indonesia is not only safeguarding its forests but also actively participating in global mechanisms for tropical forest protection,” he stressed.
Raja Juli Antoni concluded that the National Statement reflects Indonesia’s message to the world—that the nation will continue to stand and work alongside other countries within the framework of multilateralism to protect the planet from the threats of climate change.
